TRAVEL PHILOSOPHY

When traveling the world you learn invaluable lessons in life. Its not just about the experience itself, its about who you become and what you will do with that knowledge.

This is our travel wisdom condensed into a list of our very best tips.

DON´T COUNT COUNTRIES MAKE EACH COUNTRY COUNT

Don´t count your countries – instead make each country count. Make it as memorable as possible.

Stressing all over the world will not give you greater pleasure in the end.

When it all comes down to it spending more time in each country and really seeing it is more valuable than actually seeing 3 countries in the same time.

IT´S ALL ABOUT THE PEOPLE YOU MEET

Often times it is not the pictures or the experience itself of a ”tourist attraction” it is the memories of the place and the people you met while you were there.

People shape our perception of a place.

You might remember a certain smell or something that looks familiar.

SPONTANEITY

Being open for spontaneity on the trip is the very core and essence of freedom. This will open doors that otherwise were closed when it comes to experiencing true freedom.

This means that you shouldn’t plan too much – because everything will not be the way you thought it might be.

Sometimes you get disappointed other times you get happily surprised – but one thing to always keep in mind is that sometimes things just happen. Either in a good way or bad way and your trip will take a new direction.

TRAVEL LIKE A VAGABOND

Meaning you travel more like a real backpacker.

Stay at hostels ets

DARE TO CHALLENGE YOURSELF

Go outside your comfort zone.

ENJOY THE MOMENT

Often times we just go to places to take pictures. We don’t appreciate the place once we get there.

Drop the camera, sit down and just love the moment.

RELAX

To appreciate everything you see on a around the world trip – sometimes you need to relax – lean back and look at what you have accomplished.

We advocate that you take at least 12 of these so called relax trips during a whole year of traveling. Meaning in short that you go somewhere every month for at least a week and drop everything.

This is where you lay on a beach, take a spa, have a massage every day, stay at an hotel etc.

This will give you time to think about what has happened during your trip.

Of course – you don’t have to throw a lot of money into this. Traveling as a backpacker you might not fancy paying for an expensive hotel for a whole week – but there are other things you can do.

Give yourself time to heal

MINIMALISTIC IS FREEDOM

Everything you have when traveling is in your bag, more or less. Especially when traveling for a long time – this is your home. This is your most precious item, without it all the other things would be hard to take with you.

We have come to realize that you don’t need as much as you think. The less things you have, the more you will enjoy everything else.

TAKE A WALK

The best way to SEE a city is to experience it by foot. This is by far the most effective way to get a feeling of a city – to get a grip of it.

The smell, the sound, the people, the everyday life, things you see that you otherwise would have missed,

GO BY LAND

Whenever you have the possibility to travel by land instead of air – you should do it.

Sometimes it is more expensive to travel by land than it is by air – but that is rare.

When you travel by land – you get the chance to mix and mingle with the locals of a country. And what is more invaluable than that?

TRAVEL QUOTES

Once you have travelled, the voyage never ends, but is played out over and over again in the quietest chambers. The mind can never break off from the journey.

A man of ordinary talent will always be ordinary, whether he travels or not; but a man of superior talent will go to pieces if he remains forever in the same place.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in you sail. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Don’t tell me how educated you are, tell me how much you travelled.

Two roads diverged in a wood and I – I took the one less travelled by. And that has made all the difference.

Not all those who wander are lost.

The world is a book and those who do not travel only read one page.
